We are going to study two principal segments in the Spanish car industry that are related with the Tesla Model S and will help us to determine our objectives. Electric- power vehicles market Luxury Sports car Market Electric- power vehicles market At present there are many signs that point to the need for a change in the technologies used for the transport and mobility of people all over the world. These signs are: the negative side effects of combustion vehicles , increasingly noticeable : pollution , greenhouse gases , etc¦

-Strong growth of the global car fleets , especially thanks to the economic development of emerging countries. Scarcity of fossil fuels or , the near end of oil at affordable prices As a result of these, the electric-powered vehicle stands today as the alternative for urban transportation for the future sustainability of the mobility standards of our society. The advantages of electric vehicles are : Clean energy usage, which reduces very significantly, or completely, the emissions of gaseous polluting particles.

-Electric propulsion is more efficient than energy from fossil fuels. Goes from the storage to the wheel without losing as much energy as a fossil fuel does in all the process. Electric cars incorporate renewable energy in the full cycle of the transport. Electric cars have great potential for creating new technological applications, such as use as integrated energy storage on the power grid. Rechargeable batteries recycle well. Almost 100 percent of these batteries can be recycled, which keeps old batteries from becoming a disposal problem.

On the other hand, it should be valued very positively the important opportunities of research and industrial development that means for Spain the implementation of electric mobility (manufacturing, charging infrastructure , batteries) and the variety of business models that are emerging in relation to the electrical vehicle; mobility services, applications for smart management and efficient use of vehicles. Currently there exist 3 types of plug-in vehicle technologies in the Spanish market :

¢ Pure electric (BEV battery electric vehicle ) Vehicle powered entirely by an electric motor powered by batteries that are recharged through a power outlet connected to the electric grid. It incorporates regenerative braking system , based on an inertial battery that recovers the energy released in the braking , which contributes to the charging of the batteries and increases the energy efficiency of the vehicle. The level of emissions of this vehicle is zero. ¢ Extended-range Electric ( E-REV )

Plug-in Electric vehicle that also incorporates a deposit of fuel to power the electric motor when the load of battery has been consumed. The propulsion is exclusively electric but the recharging of the electric motor ,thanks to auxiliary combustion system ,allows the vehicle to extend the electric charge range to levels similar to the heat conventional vehicles but with a much lower level of emissions . It incorporates regenerative braking to recharge the electric batteries .

¢ Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV ) Vehicle that combines electric propulsion energy obtained from the grid, until a certain degree of autonomy , with the thermal conventional engine propulsion when the electric batteries are discharged. The electric engine autonomy is higher than in conventional hybrid (not plugged-in) ,which significantly reduces the overall level of emissions. Although car registration figures are still irrelevant compared to the overall market volume it should be highlighted that in recent years there has been a true start for the electric motor vehicle, initiating a market with great expectations of growth in our country. It is evident that the drastic fall of the auto market generally caused by the economic crisis has played against the development of electric vehicle market Spain, together with a phenomenon of shift in supply by the manufacturers and the slow evolution of other factors favoring the demand for VE.
