Lent is a season that remembers when Jesus was tempted by the devil for 40 days in the dessert without food and water. During this season Catholics give up something they love or that tempts them to remind them of the sacrifices that Jesus experienced. The Paschal Triduum represents the day Jesus died on the cross and then the two days in between and on third day when Jesus rose from the dead in fulfillment of the scripture, we celebrate Easter. The Easter season last 50 days until Pentecost; Pentecost in the Judaism is celebrated as the birth of the church.
The Muslims have several different holidays that they follow each year. However, I will only list those that I pick out that are important to add. Ramadan is the first that we will discuss and this is the month of fasting which is during the 9th month. During Ramadan the Muslims are not allowed to eat or drink during daylight hours. also during this fast the Muslims cannot have any sexual intercourse nor may they smoke, at the end of the day they can break the fast and eat and drink which is called the iftar (Holidays on the net, 2011).
